Cold wave conditions prevailed across Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan with minimum temperatures dipping in the past 24 hours, Met department officials said on Friday.
The minimum temperatures were one to three degrees below normal at most places in Punjab and Haryana.
Narnaul and Hisar in Haryana recorded lows of 2.5 and 2.7 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 5 degrees on Friday. The maximum temperature here was 20.5 degrees.
Maximum temperatures at most places in Punjab and Haryana hovered between 18 and 22 degrees. Amritsar and Ludhiana in Punjab recorded lows of 3.3 and 3.5 degrees, respectively.
The Haryana government has declared winter vacations in all schools across the state from January 1 to 15, 2019.

Meanwhile, cold wave has gripped Rajasthan as well and there will be no relief from the winter chill in the next 48 hours, met department officials confirmed in Jaipur on Friday.
On Thursday night, Fatehpur recorded -2.8 degrees Celsius, Mt Abu was at -1.0 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature plummeted to 0.5 degrees Celsius in Sikar.
