Actor-singer Ayushmann Khurrana says the dearth of time and the trends of 'singles' worldwide, led him to work on his first single titled "O heeriye".
He released the teaser of his single on YouTube recently. Produced under Yash Raj Films (YRF) Music, the song will release on Ayushmann's birthday Sep 14.
"The trend of singles is seen worldwide. Artists like Coldplay and John Mayer release singles instead of albums at times, so I decided to release a single instead of an album," Ayushmann said here in an interview Thursday.
"Anyways, I had very little time. I am more busy with acting, so a single was apt, and there is no need to over-feed the audience with my songs," he added.
Ayushmann has earlier sung numbers like "Paani da rang" and "Saadi gali" in his films "Vicky Donor" and "Nautanki Saala", respectively. They earned their share of popularity.
"O heeriye" is a mix of Hindi and Punjabi lyrics, and that is done to boost the song's reach. His previous songs were in true-blue Punjabi.

"It is a mix of Hindi and Punjabi. I have used Hindi for the first time so that the song has a vast reach and more people can understand it. In my earlier two songs, there were several Punjabi words which many people didn't understand," said Ayushmann.
