Colombia's Club Atletico Nacional defeated Peru's Inti Gas 1-0 in the CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation) 2013 Copa Sudamericana tournament.
The lone goal was scored by midfielder Sherma Cardenas in the 56th minute when he met a pass inside the area for a left-leg kick to beat goalkeeper Mario Villasante, reports Xinhua.
The match, played at San Marcos stadium in the Ayacucho region at 2,600 metres above sea level, was entertaining fromthe beginning, with good attacking and counter-attacking plays.
The second-leg match will be played Aug 6 in the northern Colombian city of Medellin in the Anastasio Girardot Stadium.
A draw will be enough for Nacional to qualify for the next round, while Inti Gas will have to win to remain in the tournament.
