Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos has called on the public to support the national football team ahead of its meet with Chile Friday, as part of the South American qualifiers for next year's World Cup in Brazil.
"Our team symbolises the unity of Colombia, it symbolizes the nation, it symbolizes what we can all do when we unite, it symbolizes that when we unite we can achieve great objectives," reported Xinhua citing Santos in the Caribbean city of Barranquilla, where the game took place.
Colombia tied Chile 3-3 to qualify for the World Cup.
Colombia's final game of the tournament will be against Paraguay, currently in the last place. Chile, however, will go on to play Ecuador at a home match.
