After suffering a series of mortifying poll reverses, the smile was back in the Congress as senior party leaders launched a full-scale attack against the BJP-led NDA government on the land acquisition ordinance here Wednesday.
Addressing hundreds of farmers here at Jantar Mantar, over a dozen Grand Old Party leaders, including Jairam Ramesh, Ajay Maken, Digvijay Singh, Raj Babbar, Deepender Hooda and Jyotiraditya Scindia, were full of enthusiasm - a factor that had gone missing after the party's drubbing in the 2014 general elections and the state elections, especially being wiped off in Delhi.
As the crowd kept shouting "Congress zindabad" slogans, The leaders spoke with enthusiasm and looked hopeful of public support in their opposition to the land acquisition ordinance of the Narendra Modi government.
"Congress will get a new 'sanjeevni' (life-giving medicine) from here," Ramesh said amidst loud cheers from other leaders, party workers and farmers.
He said 80 percent farmers could make or break a government.
