The Congress Monday accused the BJP-led central government of taking repeated U-turns during the six months it has been in power and said the party had misled voters in order to capture power at the Centre.
Congress general secretary Ajay Maken released a booklet titled "6 Maheene Paar U-turn Sarkar" that listed 25 U-turns the government made vis-a-vis the stand the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took when it was in opposition.
"This is a book on the BJP's change in its stand on national issues before and after the elections. This government has made 25 U-turns in the last around 180 days. That's an average of one U-turn every seven to eight days," Maken said.
He said the issues included black money, civil liability for nuclear damage act, and the Bangladesh land deal.
"While the booklet was being printed, the government made three more U-turns which have not been included," Maken said.
In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, and BJP president Amit Shah, the Congress general secretary said the government has failed to honour its pre-poll promises and fooled the people with the sole intention of coming to power.
"They only wanted to seize power even if it meant fooling the voters. They have misled the people of this nation. This government will be known as the U-turn government," he said.
