The Congress on Friday slammed the government for "its lack of policy on Jammu and Kashmir" and also the separatist leaders for the ongoing unrest in the Valley.

The Congress sought to know what the government's policy on Kashmir was and asked it to share the same with the opposition.

"Does the government have a policy? Do they have a way out? Does the government have a solution? Does the government have a roadmap or a plan," said Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi.

"We are asking about a short-, medium- or long-term plan, or all of the three. If you can't share it with the nation, please share it with the constitutional functionaries. It affects each one of us," the Congress leader added.

"The situation is extremely serious. Forget the Pakistan factor, forget the cross-border firing, the state is bleeding because 25 schools have been burnt," Singhvi said.

Singhvi hit out at separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, referring to media reports that Geelani's grand daughter had appeared for internal exams this month at an indoor stadium amid high security.

"I am not talking about that child; but I am certainly talking about the children of those so-called senior leaders of separatist organisations whose children are receiving education, even sitting in exams and tests under special camps held in schools," said Singhvi.

"Can you imagine the plight of a child who misses a month, a quarter, and consequently a whole year. Can you imagine the impact on his long-term future," he added.
