A 35-year-old cook has been arrested for murdering a man in the servant quarters of former union minister Kumari Selja's house in central Delhi, police said Tuesday.
The deceased's wife has also been detained.
"Sanjay (husband of Kumari Selja's maid) was beaten to death by (cook) Anil Yadav in a scuffle over suspicions of an illicit relationship with his (Sanjay) wife Monday," said Joint Commissioner of Police M.K. Meena.
It was because of the suspicion that Sanjay often got into fights with Anil, said Meena.
Anil came in an inebriated state in the wee hours Monday and dared Sanjay to come out of the house. The two got into a scuffle and while fighting reached the terrace of the two-storeyed servants quarters.
Yadav told police that he pushed Sanjay from the terrace and went to his room so that the murder will appear to be an accident.

Meena said a staff member in the former minister's office informed police around 8 a.m about a body lying outside the servants quarters.
Police have also not ruled out the role of Sanjay's wife in the murder.
"We have not given a clean chit to anyone. Sanjay's wife and one of Anil's friends are being questioned," Meena said.
He also did not rule out the possibility of approaching Selja over the matter.
A source told IANS that the former minister was present inside the house during the murder. Yadav was detained as he had some injury marks on his face.
"Yadav's clothes, which he was wearing during the murder and a wooden rod were also recovered," the official added.
Sanjay, who worked at the Sena Bhawan, is survived by his wife and two children. They were living at the quarter, located within the boundary of Selja's residence in Tughlak Road area in central Delhi, for the past several months.
