A Delhi Police constable was shot at by a snatcher after he foiled his bid to snatch a woman's gold chain here Sunday, an official said.
Constable Sandeep received a bullet injury in his hand in the incident in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar area in the afternoon, a police official said.
"A man in his early 20s was trying to snatch a gold chain from a woman walking on the street when constable Sandeep caught him...suddenly, the accused opened fire on him and tried to run away," said a police official.
The bystanders caught the accused, beat him up and handed him over to police. The accused, aged around 22 years, fell unconscious after the thrashing and could not be identified, police said.
