BJP leader and union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday attacked the Congress, saying they did not spare a "single element of this earth" from corruption and "covering it (corruption) and saving the guilty has been their history".
"If we take the air waves, then there is 2G scam; if we take the sky, there is helicopter scam; if we take land, then there are Adarsh and CWG scams; if we go under the ground, then there is coal scam; and in case of water, there is submarine scam," Prasad told reporters.
In his rebuttal to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's attack that the Gujarat model of development benefited only the top one per cent of the society, Prasad said: "Did Mammohan Singh initiate a probe on a single corrupt person during his 10-year tenure?
"He did not initiate a single inquiry. The investigation into all the scams took place only after court intervention and PILs."
"On the contrary, they (Congress) tried their best to stop investigations. This is Congress party and UPA's history. Covering corruption and saving the guilty has been the history of Congress party, as mostly their ministers were involved," said the Union Minister of Law and Justice and Electronics and Information Technology.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had said the people of Gujarat have "seen through the lies" spread by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during its 22-year rule in the state.
He had also attacked the BJP over the Gujarat model of development, saying it only benefited the top one per cent of the society and that the "achhe din" promise made by the party was nowhere to be seen.
