A court here has allowed the Delhi Police to take the voice sample of a suspected Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) operative.

Additional Sessions Judge Daya Prakash in an order delivered Monday allowed police to take the voice sample of Mohammad Rashid who was arrested from Nuh in Mewat district of Haryana Dec 16, 2013.

Police told the court that conversations between Rashid and Javed Baluchi, an LeT terrorist currently based in Pakistan, were intercepted.

Police said they received the intercepted conversations from the Intelligence Bureau and that they need to take a voice sample of the accused to compare the two.

Rashid's counsel M.S. Khan opposed the plea saying there were no provisions in the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) to take the voice sample of an accused.

Rashid's name surfaced during the interrogation of Mohammad Shahid, another LeT suspect arrested by Delhi Police Dec 7 from Chhoti Mewli village in the same district. Both were imams at a village mosque.
