The Punjab and Haryana high court Tuesday dismissed a petition challenging the new Haryana government's decision to lower the retirement age for government employees.
The petitioner sought suspension of the decision of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar's government, taken November last year, to reduce the retirement age for government servants.
Reversing the decision of the previous Congress-led Bhupinder Singh Hooda government in the state, the BJP government of Khattar said the retirement age would be reduced from 60 to 58 years.
The Hooda government, just before the Oct 15 assembly elections in the state, announced a populist decision to raise the superannuatio0n age for the government staff from 58 to 60 years.
