Cow slaughter, sexual exploitation and child labour will now be tried under the UP Goonda Control Act of 1970, an official said Saturday.
The new law comes into affect after Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik gave his consent to amendments in the act.
Under the new provisions, illegal transport and smuggling and cow slaughter would now invite the dreaded Goonda Act, the official said. Child labour, felling of green trees, sexual exploitation and human trafficking will also be tried under the same law.
