Crystal Palace on Sunday thrashed Hull City 4-0 in the English Premier League (EPL), sending the losers off to the English football championship second tier along with Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
Hull were in desperate need of a victory to try and avoid disaster after Swansea defeated Sunderland 2-0 on Saturday, REPORTS eFE.
However, Marco Silva's men lacked the inspiration and suffered an crushing four-goal defeat.
Wilfried Zaha, Christian Benteke, Luka Milivojevic and Patrick van Aanholt scored for Crystal Palace and guaranteed their team another season up in the Premier League.
Although Hull's performance was promising earlier this season, it ran out of steam and fell back in the standings.
It looked like the appointment of Silva would boost Hull's EPL hopes, but the Portuguese's efforts did not pull the team through in its critical moments.
