Cuba will send a five-woman team, which includes former world champions Lisandra Guerra and Yumari Gonzalez, to the Track Cycling World Cup to be held in the Mexican city of Aguascalientes Dec 5-7, an official of the sport said here.
The tournament in Aguascalientes provides tickets for the World Championship next year in Cali, Colombia, national commissioner Hector Ruiz told official Radio Havana Cuba.
"We will go to Aguascalientes with the best we have, and have the goal of classifying for the championship in Colombia" and in the long term for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Ruiz said.
"Our deluxe cycling quintet will be led by coaches Leonel Alvarez and Florencio Perez," the commissioner said.
Cuba accumulated several medals in cycling world championships and World Cup, including an Olympic silver achieved by Yoanka Gonzalez in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
