A large number of actors from the big screen to television, cultural personalities, and poets Friday walked through the streets of Kolkata protesting against the central government's "conspiracy" to besmirch the reputation of West Bengal.
The march, that began from the Nandan Film Complex, concluded at the Academy of Fine Arts with the participants holding aloft banners saying "Insult to Bengal, is insult to both you and me".
The marchers, mostly owing allegiance to the ruling Trinamool Congress which is under pressure following the arrest of a party MP as also the grilling of several of its leaders by the Central Bureau of Investigation probing the Saradha chit fund scam, included party MP and Bengali matinee idol Dev and a number or starlets.
Singers Indranil Sen, Nachiketa, Soumitra Roy, film director Raj Chakraborty, playwright and state minister Bratya Basu, cinema producer Srikant Mohta, poet Subodh Sarkar were part of the procession.
