Curfew was relaxed in phases on Tuesday in Jammu city as authorities said no untoward incident occurred anywhere during the relaxation period.
Authorities relaxed curfew in some areas of Jammu city for two hours from 11.30 a.m to 1.30 p.m. This included Peer Mitha, City Chowk and Nawabad in north areas of the city.
Jammu District Magistrate Rakesh Kumar said curfew has also been relaxed from 3 p.m to 5 p.m in Bakshi Nagar, Pacca Danga, Janipur and Bus Stand areas, and from 3.30 p.m to 7 p.m in south areas under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar, Bagh-e-Bahu, Satwari, Channi Himmat, Gangyal and Trikuta Nagar police stations.
The District Magistrate said the decision to continue the relaxation or call it off after the relaxation period ends would be taken at 8 p.m after reviewing the law and order situation.
Curfew was relaxed on Monday in south areas of Jammu for three hours from 2 p.m to 5 p.m.
Authorities had imposed curfew in Jammu district on February 15 after unruly mobs torched some and damaged several vehicles carrying registration numbers belonging to the Valley.
