After almost six decades, a meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), the party's highest decision-making body, will be held in Mahatma Gandhi's Gujarat. All the top party leaders will attend the meet here on February 28.
Briefing the media here on Monday, Congress's Gujarat unit President Amit Chavda said that they had requested party President Rahul Gandhi to convene the CWC meet in Gujarat and he had agreed.
Gandhi, his mother and United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and newly-inducted General Secretary for East Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi will be present at the CWC meet as well as the Jan Sankalp Rally to be held later in the day.
Top party leaders, besides Chief Ministers of Congress-ruled states will arrive at the Sardar Patel International Airport around 9 a.m. on February 28. They will visit the Gandhi Ashram at Sabarmati and thereafter pay their homage to the CRPF troopers killed in the Pulwama attack at the Martyrs Monument at the Shahi Baug, said Chavda.
"The CWC meeting is likely to start around 10.30 am and is expected to continue for two hours. After this a massive rally will be held at the Trimandir at Adalaj around 3 p.m.," he added.
A special committee has been formed for the CWC meeting, which will see economic, foreign, and social policies being discussed.
"All the Congress workers are eagerly awaiting this meeting with enthusiasm. A resolution to strengthen the Panchayati Raj Institutions as well as the democratic institutions will be passed in the CWC meet," Chavda said.

Question pertaining to handing over management of airports to private players like the Adani group would also be taken up for discussion.
In a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Leader of Opposition Paresh Dhanani said, "Sadly the BJP government is hurting the democratic institutions and the Constitution of the country. In this situation, when private players are being handed over public institutions like airports, the public is asking the 'Chowkidar' that who is benefiting out of such privatisation?"
