Sunibala Huirdom of India will fight for a 2014 Commonwealth bronze medal in the women's -70kg judo event after beating Canadian Monika Burgess in the Repechage contest. However, Garima Choudhary bowed out losing in the -63kg Repechage to Katie Jemima Yeats-Brown here Friday.
Both Indian competitors lost their quarterfinal bouts, but while Sunibala advanced in the Repechage beating her Canadian opponent through 'Shido' (light penalty), Garima lost to her 19-year-old English opponent via 'Waza-ari' (half-point).
Earlier in the day, Sunibala beat Memory Zikhale of Botswana in the preliminary round of 16 bout via 'Waza-ari' while Garima registered a 'Golden Score' win over Cameroon's Bibiene Fopa.
In the men's section, Balvinder Singh lost to Edson Madeira by a 'Tomoe-nage' throw while Eric Jean Omgba Fouda ousted Vikender Singh through 'Ippon' in a contest lasting just 53 seconds.
In the quarters, Garima lost to Scotland's Sarah Clark while Huidrom went down to Catherine Scott.
