German football club FSV Mainz 05 and defender Julian Baumgartlinger have agreed on a contract extension until 2019.
Mainz on Tuesday extended the expiring contract of Austrian international defender Baumgartlinger, who penned a four-year deal until June 2019, reports Xinhua.
"Julian Baumgartlinger is one of the cornerstones of the team. He is an absolute leader with his running ability, physical presence and personality. We are delighted that he opted to stay with us," Mainz manager Christian Heidel said.
The 27-year-old defender, who joined the Nuellfuenfer from Austrian side Austria Wien in 2011, made overall 91 Bundesliga appearances.
"I feel in good hands with this club, team and city. This decision was a very important one for me so I wanted to give me enough time," Baumgartlinger said.
Twelfth placed Mainz encounter newly promoted and 10th placed FC Cologne at the 33rd round of Bundesliga on Saturday.
