The special session of the Delhi Assembly on Thursday will witness a protest from the opposition, BJP MLA Vijender Gupta said on Wednesday.

The Leader of Opposition on Wednesday told the media that a meeting of BJP MLAs was held and it was decided that they would strongly protest over issues affecting "the sanctity of the House".

The MLAs decided that they will question the Aam Aadmi Party government as to why the demand asking the Centre to take back Bharat Ratna from Rajiv Gandhi was deleted from the proposal approved by the Assembly.

"The proposal was approved by the House in the last meeting. It is against the sanctity and dignity of the House to tamper with official records," he said.

"BJP MLA M.S. Sirsa has already submitted a notice to the Secretary, Legislative Assembly to remove the Speaker. The Opposition will demand that the notice should be taken up for necessary action," Gupta told media.

A controversy erupted on December 21, when AAP MLA Jarnail Singh, after reading out the resolution for speedy trial of cases and justice for the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, added a line demanding withdrawal of the Bharat Ratna given to Rajiv Gandhi, alleging that the late prime minister "justified anti-Sikh riots".

The opposition MLAs said they will also raise the "dictatorial role of Monitoring Committee in sealing residential, commercial and industrial units and Delhi Government's inaction".

On the request of Gupta and BJP MLA Jagadish Pradhan, Speaker Ram Niwas Goel had called the special session of the Assembly on January 3 for the government to present a report on the the fourth Delhi Finance Commission (DFC).

The session of the Assembly held on December 21 witnessed ruckus after the BJP MLAs asked the Delhi government to release the funds to the MCDs according to the recommendations of the DFC.

Gupta said that the MLAs will demand for "immediately placing of the report of the Fifth Delhi Finance Commission in the Assembly".
