A Delhi Police constable was Tuesday knocked down by motorcycle-borne suspected liquor smugglers at a check-post on the Delhi-Haryana border, an officer said. The motorcycle-rider was arrested and his juvenile pillion-rider detained.
Constable Jaswinder Singh Mann, 35, tried to stop the mobike-rider Narender, 19, at Lampur border check post in north Delhi's Narela area Tuesday morning but the motorcyclist knocked him down, police said.
Mann was taken to hospital with serious head and leg injuries, police said.
The accused were crossing the border with liquor bottles and to avoid arrest they tried to speed away after hitting the constable, said a police officer.
Both the accused were caught after the incident, he said.
