A court here Saturday issued fresh directions to initiate property attachment proceedings against underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his aide Chhota Shakeel, in connection with the IPL spot-fixing case.

However, Delhi Police informed the court that such an action has already been taken against them in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case.

Additional Sessions Judge Bharat Parashar was not satisfied with the police's response and ordered fresh initiation of proceedings for attachment of properties of Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel.

On July 30, 2013, Delhi Police filed a chargesheet in the case, alleging that Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel, who have been controlling the betting racket in cricket in India, were behind the Indian Premier League (IPL) spot-fixing scandal.

The formal set of charges, running into 6,000 pages, named cricketers S. Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan among other accused in the scandal related to the IPL-6 held in 2013.

The accused have been charged with offences of cheating and conspiracy under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and provisions of the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).
