Hasim Baba, a gangster who is involved in four murder cases and some attempt to murder cases, has been arrested, police said Friday. He carried a bounty of Rs.1 lakh.
Baba, 28, was on the run since 2010. He was arrested from Nainital in Uttarakhand Thursday by a special team of the Crime Branch.
"Hasim started his career as a vendor. He later got involved in betting and gambling, and finally became a gangster," Ashok Chand, additional commissioner of police (Crime Branch), told IANS.
Baba, a resident of Zaffrabad in east Delhi, is wanted in four cases of murder and some for attempt to murder at different police stations in east Delhi.
"Hasim came in contact with other criminals of north-east Delhi and in 2007 he entered into the world of crime and formed his own gang soon.
"In 2007, he entered into the gambling network after shooting an associate of the gambling lord of the nearby area of his residence in Delhi. Step by step he committed four murders and some attempts to kill other criminals," Chand said.

He also said that Baba had not been apprehended since 2010.
"In order to evade police dragnet, he continuously changed his hideouts in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. He would come to Delhi to commit crime and then vanish," he added.
