The Delhi government on Friday decided to appoint a special officer to supervise implementation of Justice G.R. Majithia Wage Board's recommendations for journalists and other employees in the print media, a statement said.
The decision was taken following a meeting of the delegation of the Majithia Wage Board Implementation Sangharsh Samiti (MWBISS) with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.
The chief minister has directed the department of labour to immediately set-up a monitoring committee for regular supervision of the wage board recommendations' implementation.
"Delhi government is committed for the effective implementation of labour laws in the national capital and will adopt a policy of zero tolerance against organisations which are harming the interests of employees," Kejriwal said.
The chief minister also directed the labour department to submit a report to him on the status of implementation of the recommendations of the Majithia Wage Board.
Kejriwal assured the delegation that he will consider their demand for the Delhi government's intervention application in their ongoing case on the issue in the Supreme Court.
