There will be 565 sites for Delhiites to perform Chhath Pooja on Thursday, said Delhi Development Minister Gopal Rai, adding that the number is almost double compared to last year.
Legislators, SDMs and officers of the Irrigation and Flood Department will be on special duty on Thursday and Friday at Chhath Pooja sites, Rai told the media here on the Chhath Pooja arrangements.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will also visit the areas on Thursday.
The Minister said arrangements had been made for doctors, life guards and disaster management teams at the prayer sites.
Rai said that in 2016, 268 areas were made available for pooja by the government. This year it had allocated Rs 20 crore for Chhath Pooja arrangements.
He added that the government was building 50 permanent ghats to offer prayers and tendering process had been completed for 26 of them.
