A 31-year-old man has been arrested for threatening a businessman and trying to extort form him Rs 10 lakh, the city police said on Tuesday.
Sonu Khan, a resident of Shaheed Nagar in Ghaziabad, had threatened Raja Khan, who owns an interior decoration business in an east Delhi area, the police said.
"Sonu made phone calls to threaten Raja and demand Rs 10 lakh as protection money from him. Raja initially took these calls as a prank played by his friends. However, Sonu and his accomplices Salman and Deepak visited his office on April 7 and threatened him at gunpoint," Deputy Commissioner of Police Nupur Prasad said.
"The crime was caught on closed-circuit television at Raja Khan's office. A pistol used in the crime was seized from Sonu Khan, who was arrested from Ghaziabad on June 28," she added.
