Annoyed over the second marriage of his estranged wife, a man assaulted her father and then shot him dead. He also injured other members of the family, police said Tuesday.
Vikram, 32, attacked his estranged wife Suman and her family members at their home in Jaitpur area in south Delhi late Monday.
He was annoyed over the second marriage of his wife, who got separated from him a few months after their marriage in 2009, said a police official.
Suman's father Om Prakash died of his injuries while Suman, her mother, Batti Devi, 55, two brothers Jay Prakash, 35, Madan Mohan, 28 and a sister-in-law were injured in the attack. Vikram also received injuries when he was overpowered and attacked by local residents.
All the injured were taken to the hospital where Suman, her mother and sister-in-law discharged after the treatment while Jayaprakash, Madan Mohan and Vikram are still under treatment.
"Vikram, who lived in the same area, was accompanied by his younger brother and two of his friends. They were armed with pistols and knives," said a police officer.

The hunt was on to nab the other three.
"Suman and Vikram got separated in 2010, after the decision from the village's panchayat. Few months after she got married to another person. Vikram was not happy with her second marriage," the officer said.
Om Prakash worked as a building material supplier.
