To halt the ongoing sealing drive in the national capital, Delhi Urban Development Minister Satyendra Jain on Thursday urged the Central government to bring an ordinance on the same along with a solution for encroachments on city roads.
"I request the Central government to bring an ordinance to stop the sealing drive in Delhi and also find a solution to the encroachments on roads," Jain said during a discussion in the Delhi Assembly.
Jain slammed the municipal corporations for alleging that the sealing drive is being carried to "only make money" and trouble the traders.
"They get an order of sealing 20 establishments, but end up sealing 100. Later, they de-seal the 80 establishments to make money," Jain alleged.
AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj, while taking part in the discussion, claimed as per Master Plan Amendment dated June 21, 2018, "MCD cannot take conversion charges from Local Shopping Centres (LSC)/ Convenience Shopping Centre (CSC), like G.K., South Ex. and Defence Colony."
He demanded that all "collected conversion charges should be retuned with interest" to the traders.
