The Election Commission has filed 330 police complaints against political parties in Delhi for violating the model of conduct, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) topping the list.

"The number of violations by political parties this time is more than double in the 2008 assembly election," Vijay Dev, the chief electoral officer of Delhi, said Monday.

The Delhi Election Commission has vowed to take strict action against the guilty political parties. Delhi goes to polls Dec 4.

A total of 330 first investigation reports (FIR) have been filed against various political parties for defacement of property, money power and distribution of alcohol to influence the voters.

Vijay Dev said the violations this time were of serious nature and so the cases have been filed under the Indian Penal Code, making it mandatory for the courts to act.

He said 90 cases had been filed against AAP, 75 against the Bharatiya Janata Party, 60 against Congress, 23 against the Bhujan Samaj Party and the remaining 82 cases against other political parties.

"As we cant give instructions to the judiciary, we are discussing the matter with the director of public prosecution so that action can be taken," Vijay Dev said.
