Delhi Police on Thursday provided security to AAP leader Somnath Bharti's wife Lipika Mitra after she approached them for security after she filed a complaint of domestic violence against her husband.
Delhi Police said they had provided Mitra security after she expressed apprehensions about her safety.
"She had expressed her apprehensions to us and we have provided her full security," Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi said.
A first information report has not been filed as of now in the case against the Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi law minister.
Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) said the notice it issued to Bharati on Wednesday reached his residence on Thursday.
On Wednesday, Mitra approached the DCW alleging that the AAP leader has been abusing her ever since their marriage in 2010.

Acting on the complaint, DCW issued a summon to Bharti and asked him to appear before it on June 26.
DCW chief Barkha Singh said Lipika in her complaint mentioned that Bharti used to "torture" her physically, verbally and mentally. Bharti also hit her and issued a life threat. "She has bruises on her body," Singh added.
"She has already lodged a complaint with crime against women cell in 2011. We also have a photocopy of that complaint. After that complaint, he settled the dispute with mutual co-operation. But after some time Bharti started harassing her and his kids," she said.
Bharti's wife also met Delhi Police officers on Wednesday regarding a domestic violence case.
The AAP legislator has termed the charges "baseless".
