Two missing children finally met their families Thursday following a drive launched by Delhi Police for restoring children staying in government run observation homes in the city to their families.
The two children aged 10 years and 13 years were missing for the past few months from Delhi's Harsh Vihar and Rajasthan's Bhiwadi. Both were lodged at south Delhi 'Bal Adhikar Sashaktikaran Kendra', police said.
"A special drive has been launched this week to check all the children homes in Delhi for matching their records with the available data of missing, kidnapped children. It has been named operation 'Milap'," said Joint Commissioner of Police Ravindra Singh Yadav.
Several teams of police officials have been constituted for this drive. They will check each and every child and make all efforts to get any clue about their parents so that they can be reunited with them, he said.
Delhi has 98 registered observation homes.
Local police are also being asked to screen and document all the children residing in the shelter homes, railway platforms, bus stands, roads, religious places, etc, the officer said.
