Delhi Police on Thursday suspended five police personnel including an SHO for inaction after a casino and bar running illegally under their police station's jurisdiction, an official said.
The action came after a raid on the casino being run in a farmhouse in Fatehpur Beri area of south Delhi on Wednesday, during which 30 people were arrested.
SHO Govind Chauhan, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Brij Kishore and Rajender, Head Constable Ravinder and Constable Puran, all posted in Fetehpur Beri police station, were suspended after they were found to be their non-performing on duty in view of busting a casino and bar running illegally in the area, said Delhi Police SHO Madhur Verma.
"The Delhi Police sent a strong message to its non-performing personnel with this departmental action so that such lapses and negligence on duty will not be repeated again. We gave a message that no such lapses will be tolerated and the staff must pull up their socks and be vigilant of activities taking place in their area," he said.
The illegal casino, in the sprawling 13 acre farmhouse, was being run by a man named Radhe Shyam at a farmhouse owned by Major Suresh Yadav (retd) on Dera Mandi Road in Fatehpur Beri, police said.
The farmhouse was also used for shooting of television serials and films.
