Delhi Police is going to distribute pepper spray to female journalists and city girls who had been given self-defence training, on the second anniversary Tuesday of the brutal gang-rape and murder of trainee physiotherapist, a police official said.
The pepper spray will be distributed Tuesday by Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi at the police headquarters in central Delhi, an officer told IANS on the condition of anonymity.
Bassi will also brief the media around 10 a.m..
The student was gang-raped and tortured by five men on Dec 16, 2012 in front of her male friend in south Delhi. She later died in hospital in Singapore of her grievous internal injuries.
