As Delhi continues to get good monsoon, the national capital in 2017 has recorded 220 cases of chikungunya till July 30, over 12,000 cases less than for the same period in 2016, officials said on Monday.
According to National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), in 2016, chikungunya cases reported from Delhi were 12,279.
However, dengue related patients have increased to 237 till July 30, 2017, compared with 119 for the same period last year.
"Out of the 237 cases in Delhi, 118 are from the national capital while 119 cases are from adjoining states, undergoing treatment at hospitals in national capital," said NVBDCP.
NVBDCP is the central nodal agency for the prevention and control of vector-borne diseases, such as malaria, dengue, lymphatic filariasis, kala-azar, Japanese encephalitis and chikungunya in India.
In the last one week, Delhi has seen two new cases of dengue but no deaths have been reported.
