As Delhi residents on Friday saw further respite from heat, weather analysts said that they expect mercury to rise gradually before another respite due next week with possibility of rain showers.

On Friday, the city's maximum temperature was recorded at 31.2 degree Celsius, a notch above the season's average, against 32.4, 34.1 and 37 degrees in the past three days.

According to weather analysts, as the Western Disturbances have moved from Delhi and neighbouring region, the temperature will rise from Sunday onwards, likely to reach 35 to 36 degrees before another Western Disturbance, that brings rain-like condition, appears by Thursday next week.

"It may or may not rain, but temperature will fall on and few days following March 22 due to the western disturbance.

"For now, due to fresh snow fall and rains in parts of Himachal Pradesh, cool winds will keep the temperature around 30 degrees Celsius in Delhi, however from Sunday onwards they will rise gradually," Mahesh Palwat, Director of private weather forecasting agency Skymet told IANS.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD), Saturday's maximum temperature is likely to hover around 31 degrees, however the mercury will gradually rise from Sunday onwards at least a degree everyday.
