Doctors at the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) dispensaries here will provide consultation facilities to everyone -- irrespective of their being beneficiaries of the scheme or not -- in the wake of the spurt in dengue cases in the national capital, the government said on Sunday.

"All doctors at various CGHS wellness centres in Delhi and NCR shall provide consultation services and primary out-patient medical care to all citizens -- whether CGHS beneficiaries or not -- who may visit the centres with symptoms of dengue, primarily high fever," an official statement said.

The move is part of the various initiatives taken by the union health ministry to deal with the dengue menace.

CGHS wellness centres function from 7.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on all working days.

On Saturday, a nine-year-old girl died of dengue, taking the unofficial toll to 29, though the official toll, till September 24, stands at 17.

Almost 1,700 more dengue cases have been reported in the national capital in the last one week, taking the total number of people affected by the disease to 5,471.
