Worried about the rising cases of diabetes, obesity and television addiction among kids, a Delhi-based doctor and mother has created a first-of-its-kind designer gym for children -- Zig Zag Zoom.
The city's first gymnasium exclusively for kids it has professionally-designed equipment like treadmills, steppers, exercise cycles, rowers, etc. It offers an array of activities as well as healthy snacks, and is expected to bring a huge cheer to its target clientele (aged between 1 and 10 years).
"Drawing inspiration from the Montessori concepts, the centre can be a welcome alternative to parks in this dengue-infested season," says Tarandeep Kaur, Director of Zig Zag Zoom.
"We have used concepts like hinge and joint, learning numbers through abacus and magnetic games, identifying shapes and learning sounds, etc.," Kaur said.
"The idea behind this is to aid the overall development of the child through various activities like dance, Zumba, story-telling sessions and science labs," she said.
"We also plan to conduct workshops for kids and parents relating to issues like anger management in kids, substance abuse, bullying, low self-esteem, celebrating failure," she added.
