The body of a diamond merchant was found inside his ransacked shop here, police said on Tuesday.
Mohammed Salim owned a jewellery shop in central Kolkata's Jakaria street, a police officer said. "He was allegedly strangled to death on Monday night."
The shop was looted. According to the family members, three valuable diamonds and other jewelleries were missing. "It seems to be a case of robbery," he said.
According to police, the family members suspected something was wrong when Salim did not come home long after the scheduled time on Monday night. They went to the shop to check on him and found his body.
