Imran Khan says he didn't have to work on his accent to play the South Indian character in his forthcoming film "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein".

"I didn't work on the accent as my character, Shriram, is a South Indian guy who has studied abroad," Imran told reporters Wednesday during the promotion of the film at a radio station here.

Imran's character in the romantic-comedy is a party lover and a high-on-life fellow and his life takes an interesting twist when he falls in love with a social worker, essayed by Kareena Kapoor.

"My character is a misfit in his family. His father calls him 'kaala dhabba' (black spot). He is the shame of the family. Neither does he speak in Tamil, nor does he follow the customs," he added.

A Dharma Productions film, "Gori Tere Pyaar Mein" has been directed by Punit Malhotra and is slated to release Nov 22.
