Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Thursday announced a hike in the amount of award money to handicraft artisans in the capital.
A recipient of state award will now receive Rs.50,000 instead of Rs.25,000 while for excellence awards, the amount has been doubled to Rs.30,000. A consolation award winner will take home Rs.20,000, up from Rs.10,000.
"We are proud of our artisans who have been creating wonders with their handicrafts and the government will continue to encourage them," Dikshit said at a function in which she gave away state awards to handicraft artisans here.
The increased amounts will be effective from 2014.
