Gymnast Dipa Karmakar, who received accolades from across the country for her fourth-place finish in the Rio Olympics vaults final, will be presented a gold crown by a community Durga Puja organisers on Sunday with former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly and Bengali film star Prosenjit Chatterjee feting the Tripura girl.
Dipa will be gracing the occasion along with her coach Bishweshwar Nandi, the organisers of Salt Lake FD Block Durga Puja said on Tuesday.
The 23-year-old who vaulted into the history books by becoming the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for the Olympics and then qualifying for the summit round, will set foot in the city for the first time after her feat at the quadrennial Games.
"She will be given a gold crown for her unprecedented achievements in Rio. Bishweshwar Nandi will be handed a trophy," said FD Block Durga Puja committee president Pradip Sengupta.
Sources said Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) president Ganguly will felicitate Dipa, famous for her mastery over the highly risky "Produnova" vault. Superstar Prosenjit Chatterjee will also be present.
Dipa is expected to land in Kolkata on Sunday morning to attend the function. She will visit the Bhowanipore Football Club on Monday morning followed by an event at the Bengal Chamber of Commerce.

The Khel Ratna award winner will then head to Dunlop on the city's northern outskirts for another round of felicitations on her way to the airport.
