World No.1 tennis player Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarter-finals of the China Open here on Thursday with a ruthless 6-2, 6-1 win over home challenger Zhang Ze.
This was the first time that Djokovic, the top seed, confronted a Chinese player. The vast disparity between the two players was obvious, and the match lasted only 55 minutes, reports Xinhua.
"I didn't play very well in today's match, Djokovic just gave out his own level," Zhang said. "There is still a huge gap between me and those top players like him."
Djokovic's work is still unfinished on Thursday as he has to play men's doubles second round with his younger brother Djordjie Djokovic at night against Canada's Vasek Pospisil and American player Jack Sock.
