BJP state unit President Ashok Parnami on Monday accused opposition Congress leaders Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot of politicising the 19 deaths in a cylinder blast in Beawar town of Ajmer district.
"The two leaders could not find time to meet the bereaved families and those injured but Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia reached the spot without delay and met the affected families. The rescue operation was immediately launched which helped save many lives," Parnami said on the sidelines of a meeting at the Bharatiya Janata Party headquarters here.
The Chief Minister also took no time in announcing ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh each to the bereaved families and Rs 50,000 each to the injured, who are being treated free of cost, the BJP leader said.
Parnami said the ruling party is in the process of reviewing the reasons for the BJP's defeat in the two Lok Sabha bypolls and one for an Assembly seat.
"Once our shortcomings are discussed, we will try to remove them to ensure that the lotus (BJP poll symbol) blooms yet again with full strength in ensuing elections," he added.
He claimed that while the BJP had accepted its defeat in the bypolls as the people's mandate, the opposition party was busy making castles in the air after winning three seats.
