As the US gets ready for the November 8 election, aides of the Republican candidate Donald Trump have reportedly taken control of his Twitter account, The New York Times has reported.
Trump has been known to fire furious tweets himself but his twitter handle has gone quieter for a while.
Most of Trump's tweets were busy thanking people of various battleground states he visited for campaign rallies. "Thank you Iowa - Get out & #VoteTrumpPence16!" read one tweet.
Trump is now dictating tweets to staff members who can edit his comments, the report said.
"Taking away Twitter turned out to be an essential move by his press team, which deprived him of a previously unfiltered channel for his aggressions," it added.
"All my quotes are coming from my speeches. And that's a good thing," Trump's account tweeted.
According to the NYT report, a few days of good behaviour cannot erase 16 months of erratic conduct, and aides acknowledge that their efforts to steer a straight course may falter.
