Borussia Dortmund beat Freiburg 3-1 while Bayern Munich recorded a 2-0 win over Stuttgart in the third round of the German Bundesliga.

German giants Bayern Munich Saturday earned a hard earned victory over winless Stuttgart for their second win of the season -- and the 12th straight win against the "Swabians", reports Xinhua.

Stuttgart defended deep from the kick off to give Bayern a hard fight.

However, the Bavarians took 27 minutes to break the deadlock as Mario Goetze utilized a rebound following a free kick to slot home into the far post corner from a sharp angle.

Stuttgart's offence were very lackadaisical while Bayern pressed for their second goal of the day as Xabi Alonso rattled the left post before Robert Lewandowski made use of the rebound to hit the right post.

Bayern were rewarded for their efforts five minutes before the final whistle when Franck Ribery doubled the lead, nutmegging Sven Ulreich from seven metres following a through ball by Lewandowski.
