Hong Kong-based airlines Dragonair on Tuesday said it has introduced an additional flight between Kolkata and Hong Kong, increasing the total numbers of flights between the two cities to six every week.

"The addition of the sixth flight will offer more choice for corporate travelers, leisure travellers, traders, students and exporters to connect seamlessly with the 189 destinations in 51 countries offered by Dragonair and Cathay Pacific Airways," Cathay Pacific and Dragonair general manager, South Asia, Middle East and Africa, Charlie Stewart-Cox told media persons here.

The Hong Kong-based carrier is part of the Cathay Pacific group.

"This connectivity will help to further enhance ties between India and Hong Kong and will also help to strengthen Hong Kong's position as a leading aviation hub," he said.

Dragonair, which operates Airbus 320 aircrafts for the Kolkata-Hong Kong route is the only airline which offers non-stop service between these two cities.

It commenced passenger services in Kolkata in November 2012 with four departures a week and increased to five departures in October 2013.
