Come Aug 16, over a 100 boys across West Bengal will get set to dribble at the fourth edition of the annual sex workers' children football tournament here.
Teenaged boys whose mothers are part of the marginalised community and hail from various districts and red-light areas in and around the city (like Sonagachi and Bowbazar), will be part of 14 teams to show their footballing skills at the Rabindra Kanan park in the northern part of the eastern metropolis.
"They are football enthusiasts... all these children," Biswajit Majumdar, sports trainer for Durbar Mahila Samanwaya Committee (DMSC), a non-government organisation for sex workers, told IANS.
The winners of the tournament, organised by DMSC, will receive soccer-related gear.
Surojit Bhattacharya and Bishwajit Nandi, two children of sex workers left Aug 2 for Poznan, Poland to represent India in the Homeless World Cup that began Aug 10.
Besides India, 63 other countries are taking part in the four-a-side competition.

"We will come to know the results Aug 19. They will return Aug 24," added Majumdar who had trained them.
The two who stay in Sonagachi, one of the largest red-light areas in Asia, are products of Rahul Vidya Niketan, DMSC's sports and extra-curricular facility at Baruipur (around 25 km from Kolkata).
