DU announces new policies for 2016-17 admissions

The Delhi University announced some new admission norms for the upcoming undergraduate programmes which will begin on Wednesday.

As the university, for the first time, will go fully online for its 2016-17 academic year admissions, its admission committee intimated the changes which include 1 per cent relaxation for women students in all colleges.

"We are going online (UG admission) in absolute sense this time... we first thought of online-offline combined but then through consensus, we decided to have online admission process," varsity spokesperson Kishore Kumar Das told media.

"Needless to say this falls under the government policy of Digital India... Delhi University has always led in the front on various institutes. We are not going to lack behind but instead we are going to lead from the front and go ahead with online admissions," he added.

According to new admission policies, Kashmiri migrants students from all over India will now be able to avail 5 percent Kashmiri migrants quota for admission. Earlier this was restricted to Kashmiri migrants only from Jammu and Delhi.

The admission process which starts from June 1 at 12 noon will close registration process on June 19. The first cut-off list will be released on June 27.
