Dubai, Oct 8 (IANS/WAM) Dubai municipality has started cleaning rainwater drainage holes overlooking the Dubai Creek from impurities and debris, which may obstruct water flow and deform the general view of the creek.
Abdul Majeed Saifaie, director of waste management department, said this was an yearly procedure ahead of the winter season.
"This work requires closure of all water pumping ports in cooperation and coordination with the sewerage and irrigation network department," Saifaie said.
Yaqoub Mohammed Al Ali, head of cleaning section, said the department received a new boat which can be used to clean the residuals of disasters and accidents outside the Dubai Creek.
The amount of floating and movable waste from waters of the Dubai Creek during the first half of 2013 reached up to 283 tonnes.
